A Bar at the Folies-Bergère: mysteries behind Édouard Manet's painting

21 September, 19:00 - 20:30

Art historian Ilya Doronchenkov gives a lecture on Édouard Manet's famous painting 'A Bar at the Folies-Bergère' which is known as his last major artwork.

At the Paris Salon of 1882 Édouard Manet exhibited his last masterpiece, 'A Bar at the Folies-Bergère'. It shows a woman that is selling drinks behind the bar at one of the most famous cabarets in Paris. But her melancholy doesn't suit this place. The space looks bizzare because of its distortion which doesn't stand out at the first sight. It resembles fourth dimension. Which message contains Manet's artistic testament?
Ilya Doronchenkov

The entrance ticket which allows to explore permanent collection as well as "Avocations. Private collection of Vladimir Spivakov" exhibition is included in the price.
