A Ballad About a Small Tugboat: claymation performance (5+)

10 December, 17:00 - 18:30

'A Ballad About a Small Tugboat', new claymation play by Olga Gulevich based on Joseph Brodsky’s poem, will premiere in the Museum of Russian impressionism on September 9th. We invite children aged from 5 years old and their parents to enjoy the performance and participate in our workshop on clay modeling after the show.

It brings together the poetry of Joseph Brodsky and the artworks of famous impressionists such as Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. Their landscapes will serve as background for adventures of a tugboat named Anteus which is the main character of the poem. Compositions by Claude Debussy and Vincenzo Bellini are chosen by Olga as musical accompaniment of the action.

It is my first non-interactive play. This show is inspiration, contemplation, impression. 'A Ballad About a Small Tugboat' is considered to be a story full of melancholy but in my performance everything will be the other way round. This claymation version of the poem is about the importance of knowing your mission and loving your life.
— Olga Gulevich

After the premiere children will be able to take part in clay modeling workshop and create their own dreamy landscapes, get them framed and take them home.
